Nar Phu Valley Trek is a remote trek in the western Himalayas of Nepal. It is an off-the-beaten trekking route in the hidden Nar Phu Valley, visited by very few trekkers every year. The trekking route splits off the famous Annapurna Circuit trail and follows a steep, rugged route. The Nar Phu Valley is located between the Manaslu and Annapurna regions and was opened in 2003.

It is a restricted area in Nepal and takes you close to the Tibetan border. You will need special permits and follow specific regulations to trek to Nar Phu Valley. During this 12-day Nar Phu Valley trek, you will get to witness jaw-dropping mountain vistas and diverse landscapes and have intimate encounters with the coal community. The journey will leave you mesmerized by its beauty, adventure, and tranquility.

You can do Nar Phu Valley trekking in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). This trek is for trekkers who have trekked before in the Himalayas or at least possess previous high-altitude experience. The Nar Phu Valley trek is quite challenging, from the terrain to the tourist infrastructure. You will start trekking through sub-tropical forests of rhododendron and pine.

As the elevation increases, the valley opens up, and you will find yourself surrounded by rock hills, gorges, and moraines. The trail is dotted with stupas and towering snow-capped mountains. The natives of Nar Phu Valley are very friendly and welcoming. They are very attached to their roots and still live a life that used to live hundreds of years ago. Not to mention, there have been a few changes as the tourists began to trek here.

The best part of Nar Phu Valley trekking is the mountain panoramas that you will come across along the trail. Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m/ 26,781 ft), Annapurna II (7,937 m/ 26,040 ft), Hiunchuli Himal (6,441 m/21,132 ft), Tilicho Peak (7,134 m/23,406 ft), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m/26,795 ft), Himlung Himal (7,126 m/23,379 ft), and Pisang Peak (6,091 m/19,984 ft). Likewise, during the acclimatization hike to Himlung Himal Base Camp, you will witness heavenly scenery.

*You can extend the Nar Phu Valley trek to the Annapurna circuit by adding 5 extra days to your itinerary.
