Discover the amazing lifestyle of one of the indigenous groups of Nepal, Tamang. Learn about the Tamang heritage and explore the unspoiled Langtang Valley. The stunning landscapes of the Langtang region are a treat for the eyes. Located 202 km away from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, Langtang region has a border with Tibet, Kerong.

The way to this northern remote area goes along the Bhote Koshi River. Tamang peoples are very friendly, helpful, welcoming, and kind in nature. They have unique traditions, cultures, and heritage that are worth exploring. Langtang region is a beautiful part of the Himalayas, full of breathtaking mountains, glaciers, river valleys, rhododendron forests, and huge meadows.

Along the trail, you will come across many ancient stupas, monasteries, prayer flags, and Chortens. This trek goes beyond adventure and allows you to undine and rejuvenate. Experience the remote mountain lifestyle, have intimate interactions with the locals, and taste some of their traditional delicacies.

The trekking route goes through dense bamboo forests, freshly flowered rhododendron, oak forest & juniper, and divine lakes called Kunda. Likewise, you will witness cascading waterfalls and towering mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, etc.

The trek begins with a long, scenic ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. From here, the trail ascends & descends via beautiful villages like Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, and Briddim. Kyanjin Gompa is one of the most important religious places in the region. And Tserko Ri is the highest point of the trek. It takes you to 4,984 meters.

If you wish to make the trek more adventurous and immersive, then we highly recommend combining Gosaikunda Lake and Helambu region in the itinerary.

Itinerary

On your arrival at Kathmandu airport, our team members will pick you up. And you will have a complimentary dinner with team members in the evening at the hotel.

On this day, you will drive by bus/jeep with the picturesque scenery from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. If the sky is clear, you will get to see the stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Mt. Annapurna, and Mt. Manaslu.

The trail ascents to the viewpoint. The spectacular scenes of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, and Langtang Lirung here are amazing. You will encounter many villages on the way with Buddhist chorten and mani walls. After a downhill path, you will stop at Goljong for lunch and a break. After around three hours of walking, you will reach Gatlang.

The trek begins by gradually descending to Thangbuchet along the Bhote Koshi River. Then ascends to Tatopani, crossing a hanging bridge. This place is famous for its natural hot springs. The water of these hot springs is said to have a healing power that cleanses one's soul and body. You will chill in the steamy bath accompanied by an appetizing dinner on an overnight homestay.

This day is the longest trekking day. From Tatopani, you will climb the Nagthali Danda (3,165 m) after lunch at Brimdang. The trail then descends to Thuman, which is a lovely settlement of Tamangs influenced by Tibetan. On a lucky day, one can see Gray Langur monkeys, including the ancient monasteries with wood engraving on the way.

From Thuman, you will follow one of the old trade routes between China and Nepal via rhododendron forests and meadows. You will walk through a flat trail and drop down to Timure and Bridim. The Z-shaped houses are attractive where you will stay for a night.

The trail descends along the Ghophe Khola through a rhododendron forest with the mystical sight of snow-capped Langtang Himal and gorgeous Gosaikunda Valley. The trail takes you to Rimche. From here, you continuously follow the path along the Langtang Khola, you will reach Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.

After lunch, climb up a steep forest with pines and oak through the stream. Further, walking takes you to the narrow river valley opening at Ghora Tabela. The yaks can be seen here grazing on the lush hill. The mountains from here look just up the head.

The trail further leads to the tiny village with houses built of stones, Sindhum. After a few hours of trekking, you will get to Yamphu and cross the Laja Khla. From here, the trail ascends to Kyanjin Gompa. It is short trekking, so we will have lots of time for an acclimatization walk. This place is famous for its enchanting landscapes, striking view of Mt. Langtang Lirung, and other peaks.

It is an acclimatization day. You can visit some of the oldest monasteries around the village, explore the local yak cheese factories, and hike up to Tserko-Ri's viewpoint. It is also the highest elevation of this trek and offers spectacular mountain panoramas and glacier views. After the hike, we will return to Kyanjin Gompa to spend the night.

On this day, you will begin to trek back through the same old trail back to Lama Hotel. The trail descends by pasture lands with the breathtaking sights of mountains and beautiful villages on the way till you reach the hotel. On the way, we will trek past Godatabela and Langtang village.

Today you trek forward to Syabrubesi through the forest trail until you reach Pairo. After lunch here, you will ascend following steep trails up to Thulo Syabru. Here you will get a mesmerizing glimpse of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and many other peaks. On the same evening, you can visit the monastery with your guide and stay overnight.

After morning lunch, on this particular day, you will drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu by local or private bus/jeep through the rough roads alongside the bank of Trisuli River. You will stop in between the ride for lunch and head to Kathmandu through the pitch-smooth roads. The remaining day is free.

On this very day, you will roam around the vibrant streets of Kathmandu with temples and stupas associated with UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will be visiting some of the important historical places such as Swayambhunath, Patan Durbar Square, Basantapur area, Pashupatinath Temple, etc. In the late evening, we will meet for a farewell dinner.

Today you will head for your homeland. An airport representative from our company will drop you at the international airport as per the flight departure time.
