Venture into the stunning Everest region following our adventurous 19 days Everest trek via Gokyo lakes & Lobuche East climbing itinerary. The trek begins with a thrilling mountain flight to the famous Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. The journey lets you explore Sherpa culture, Tibetan Buddhism, and the rugged Himalayan trail. The skyline is dominated by numerous tall mountains and peaks.

This trek combines Lobuche east peak climbing and trekking to one of the major attractions of the Khumbu region, Gokyo Lakes (4,800m). Not only that, but you will also reach Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), the lap of the highest mountain in the world. It is a perfect package to test your endurance and push your limits.

The trail winds through Sagarmatha National Park. You will spend nights in beautiful Sherpa villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Thame, Longde, Gokyo, Thangnak, Lobuche, Chhukung, etc. With adventure, you will experience the mountain lifestyle and witness jaw-dropping mountain panoramas. The most interesting thing about this itinerary is we will not be following the main EBC trail.

Itinerary

The company representative picks you up upon your arrival at the airport and takes you to your booked hotel. In the evening, join the team for a complimentary welcome dinner. After that, there is a briefing session of the trek with the teammates. On this day, you will fulfill all the bookings and the remaining payment process.

The flight to Lukla from Kathmandu is approximately 35 min with stunning views of splendid mountains and landscapes. After breakfast in Lukla, you will trek to Phakding/ Monjo by Chaurikharka village and a few tiny remote settlements passing by freshly flowered rhododendron forest. On the roads here could be encountered Dzho, Donkeys, and Yaks.

The trekking passes by the bank of Dudh Koshi River through nerve-wracking suspension bridges, green-blue pine trees, rhododendron bushes, juniper trees, Numerous Chortens, prayer flags, and small stupas inspiring us spiritually.

After a few hours of walking, the small Monjo village welcomes you at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Here you receive the NP permit. The lunch is at Jorsalle, and after 45 mins of walking by crossing the Hillary suspension bridge and a slightly tough uphill, you get to Namche Bazaar.

The Namche Bazaar rewards you with the impressive sight of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and numerous mountains in front. Before you carry on your adventure from here to the increasing elevation, your body must adapt to the mountainous surroundings.

So this day to acclimatize, you will hike to Everest View Point and delve into the Everest View Hotel, which offers close views of Thamserku, Kongde, Kusum Kanguru, and Nuptse. During the hike, you can visit an airport at the highest elevation- Syangboche Airport and Sherpa museums.

The way to Thame from Namche Bazaar is via the old trade route to Tibet through Nagpa La pass. The trackway is easily crackable as it is a short uphill trek and further follows a moderately flat trail. While trekking, you will witness astonishing mountains, numerous waterfalls, and picturesque villages.

From Thame, you will head for Longde by Marlung. The trail climbs uphill and down into the upper Thame for 7-8 hours, following the Bhote Koshi River until the destination arrives.

After you reach Longde, the trek continues to Gokyo Lake, crossing the Renjo La pass. The trail offers mesmerizing views of mountains like Thamserku, Kangtega, and Cho Oyu. As we trek, the mountainous terrain gets broader and steep.

Further, the trail goes past the first and second lakes in the lake system of this region to the third lake, where Gokyo village is situated. The trek route is comparatively less busy and is perfect for introverted travelers who love to spend their time in solitary places.

The hiking to Gokyo Ri starts early in the morning from Gokyo village. The trails are approached with extra care because it is quite steep and rocky. Gokyo Ri provides the stunning sunrise of numerous mountain ranges such as Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Pumori, Nuptse, etc, and presents you with the true beauty of Gokyo Lake.

If the weather or situation is not suitable for climbing, you can wander around the valleys of Cho-La Pass or Renjo-La Pass. Another alternative is to explore the Gokyo lakes and hike up to Mt. Cho Oyu base camp.

On this day, the trail goes through Ngozumpa Glacier. You will not gain much elevation, and there are some short tricky downward slopes along the way. Further, the trail ascends and follows a downhill route alongside a small stream covered by ice to Thangnak.

This day's trek of yours is through the second high pass of the route- Chola Pass. That descends into the valley and gradually ascends after that. The path here is challenging due to rocky trails and glacial moraine. The clear echoes of falling rocks sound scary yet adventurous.

Dzonglha to Lobuche passes through majestic views of the Himalayan mountains. The trail follows the Imja Khola moraine and sinks to Chola Lake and Khumbu Valley via the main Everest Base Camp route.

The trail to Lobuche Peak Base Camp is fairly tough than others due to the slopes as you move forward to the Lobuche summit. After a 3-4 hour trek, you will tent in the peak camp and prepare for the next day's climbing. The trained mountain guide provides you necessary instruction required for peak climbing.

Finally, the big day is here. Today, you will accomplish your dream by approaching the southern ridge via steep and ice tracks with climbing gear such as ropes, crampons, and ice axes. With the skilled mountain guide by your side, you will head to the technical parts of Lobuche Peak and reach the 45 degrees sloped hill, the summit point of Lobuche East.

After your great victory and marvelous time surrounded by the highest panoramic glory of the world, Mt. Everest, you will head back toward the Lobuche Peak Base Camp for the night stay.

This day is your complete rest day at Lobuche. With the heavenly mountain ranges and breeze celebrating your glorious time, today you will give a break to your body if the weather is not in your favor.

On the trek to Chukung, you are set by a Kongma-La pass. To the west, the well-defined path is accompanied by cairns on a sloppy rocky area that appears to fade away as you move further.

Chukung to Pangboche is a retracing of your trek. The trail here is descending with losing altitude, making it more comfortable than other trails. As the terrain is steep and rocky, we have to be careful.

Now you will leave the mountain behind with tons of memories to live filled with your struggles, happiness, and satisfaction. From Pangboche to Tengboche, the hike gets a lot easier with the declining height. The trail goes through lush rhododendron forests. Today, you will spend a night exploring the Namche Bazaar.

With the final goodbye to the mountains, you will descend back to Lukla by the longest suspension bridge. The soft breezes with moving prayer flags are healing. The Dudh Koshi bids you a warm farewell passing by mountain villages representing the Buddhism influenced by Tibet.

The trek ends today with the early morning breakfast and 35 mins flight back to Kathmandu. The last peek into the mountains and hills might make you emotional as an adventure lover. The flight is scenic and relaxing. In the late evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner.
